Setting up Business in Swaziland 11. Importing and Exporting

11. IMPORTING AND EXPORTING

What restrictions or control are there, if any, on imports to and exports from your country?

Imports

· See 8.2 above.

· Goods consigned to Swaziland from outside the Common Customs Area ("CCA") (Botswana, Lesotho, South Africa, Namibia and Swaziland) must be cleared through customs at the first point of entry into the CCA.

· A bill of entry must be completed and submitted to customs, together with copies of the supplier's invoices and a Swaziland import permit.

· A customs form A supported by copies of the suppliers invoices must be completed and submitted to customs for goods consigned to Swaziland from a place within the CCA.

Exports

· An export permit must be obtained.

· A bill of entry/export must be lodged with customs before goods are exported outside the CCA. It must be accompanied by an Exchange Control Declaration F178.

· Customs Form B must be lodged with customs at the place of exportation in respect of goods exported to places within the CCA.

· Swaziland exporters also need a PTA certificate of origin to avail themselves of the PTA tariff facility.

Imports and Exports to countries within the CCA do not require a permit, but a form CCA1 must be completed when the goods are cleared through customs or the border post. See 4.2 above for payment requirements of sales tax on imported goods.
